This project is about the circumstances who are currently playing in Zeeuws –Vlaanderen. The subject is about the youth who are leaving Zeeland, because of the bad work opportunities and the lack of entertainment options. The population in Zeeland is ageing, meanwhile, the youth is escaping. Zeeuws –Vlaanderen is considered as a small country with its own standards. But nowadays these standards are slowly disappearing and’’ our beloved country’’ is dying. People are holding tight to their daily routines, they not open to change. We worked out the idea of absurdist performance in the public space, the cycle path. The performance consists of a few scenes who are placed on different spots on the cycle path. The unknowing passengers experience an absurd story about depopulation. Zeeuws meisje( icon of Zeeland) holds back the youth from leaving her precious country, with no mercy .…
